Decent Work (Article 27)

Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth.

The State recognises and will promote the right of disabled people to work, just as other people. This the State will do by making laws to:

  • Ensure no discrimination in recruitment for work and ensure a friendly work environment for them.

  • Ensure equal opportunities and pay.

  • Allow disabled people to join labour and trade unions like others.

  • Ensure that disabled people can go on work programmes and vocational training.

  • Provide aid to disabled people and keep jobs as well as get better jobs.

  • Provide opportunities for disabled people to start their own businesses.

  • Giving disabled workers jobs with the Government and in places like councils and hospitals.

  • Provide disabled people employment in private companies.

  • Ensure that disabled people can have work experience.

  • Help disabled people get back to work.

  • Ensure that disabled people are not forced to do unpaid work.
