Participation in political and public life (Article 29)

Disabled people have the same political rights as others. Disabled people have the right to vote and be elected by:

  • Making sure voting is easy to do and understand.

  • Making sure voting is secret.

  • Providing assistance to help disabled people vote in the way they want, when needed.

  • Making sure disabled people can be involved in non-government organisations and political parties.

  • Making sure disabled people can form and join organisations of disabled people.

  • Disabled people have the right to stand for election at all levels of government.
