Participation in cultural life, recreation, leisure and sport (Article 30)

  • Disabled people have the same rights to take part in cultural life as everyone else.

  • Recreational material should be better accessible.

  • Cultural activities such as watching television, films and theatres should be accessible.

  • Disabled people should be able to access places of cultural value such as museums and libraries.

  • Disabled people should have the opportunities to explore and develop their artistic potential.

  • Rules and laws should not create extra difficulties for disabled people to access cultural material like books.

  • Deaf and other cultures are recognised and respected.

  • Disabled people should be encouraged to participate in mainstream sports.

  • Disabled people are able to take part in disability-specific sports and leisure activities.

  • Sports and other leisure places are accessible.

  • Disabled children should have equal access as well to cultural activities.
