TEACHER SUPPORT TO SPECIAL SCHOOLS
Shakti Sekhar Parida ( Continuing)
Very few teachers are being allotted to government special schools. To fill the gap, Swabhiman appoints qualified unemployed youth with disabilities as teachers in the schools. Thus, supporting both schools and individuals. The teachers are also included in career enrichment programs. Presently Shakti Sekhar Parida conducts Art classes in BBC School for Deaf, Bhubaneswar. A graduate from B.K. College of Fine Arts, Bhubaneswar, he is himself speech and hearing impaired.







Nasim Azam ( Old Teacher)
Only a limited number of teachers were assigned to government special schools. To address this shortage, Swabhiman recruited qualified unemployed youth with disabilities as educators in these institutions, thereby benefiting both the schools and individuals. Additionally, the teachers participated in career development programs.

Nasim Azam conducted art classes at BBC School for the Deaf in Bhubaneswar. A graduate of B.K. College of Fine Arts, Bhubaneswar, he was himself speech and hearing impaired. In the government-run BBC School for the Deaf, Swabhiman appointed Nasim Azam, a deaf artist, as an art teacher from 2015 to 2020. Swabhiman’s well-wisher, Ms. Manjusmita Panda, who ran a school in London, supported his salary.
This initiative was part of Swabhiman’s Inclusive Education Programme, “Addhyayan,” where the organization supported teachers in different schools. It served two purposes – employing qualified people with disabilities who were jobless and ensuring education for children with disabilities who needed a teacher.
